On-Line ZIPFIP

On-line ZIPFIP can be used to:
  • Find all ZIP-codes or counties in a market area (defined by a market area centroid)
  • .. find their location and name
  • .. extract a variety of census and physical data
  • .. compute distances to a set of alternative locations
  • These actions represent a subset of the full power of ZIPFIP (you might want to download ZIPFIP if your needs are more complicated)

    Select all: Counties or ZIP-codes
within (0 = just the closest one) miles of
Latitude= , Longitude (or .. click on map below!)
Return the Lat & Long, ZIP or county name, FIPS code (if ZIP-codes selected)?
Generate a map: Area covered: Image size:

Which "descriptive" variables would you like?

Compute the distance from each ZIP (or county), in the market area, to a destination at
    Latitude=, Longitude= (0=don't compute a distance) ?
    Socioeconomic variables
    ZIP-codes & counties
    Land Characteristics
    Counties only
    Climate Data

For counties: select as many as you like from all 3 groups
For ZIP-codes, select as many as you like from the first group

Processing of large requests (say, ZIP-codes within 200 miles of L.A.) may take a few minutes. Please be patient!
Instead of entering latitude and longitude,
you can click on this map to select a "market area center "
Note: Be sure to select the above options (descriptive variable, mapping options, etc.) before you click on the map!

    Market Areas

A market area is simply a list of counties (or ZIP-codes) within a given distance of a defined center. This center is defined using latitude and longitude coordinates (or by clicking on the map above). Alternatively, one could supply a ZIP-code (or a FIPS code), and use it's centroid. Or, one could define a band with a minimum and maximum distance. Or,.... well, the downloadable version of ZIPFIP provides a number of methods of quickly creating market area(s).
